Word Search

Tracen had his sweet Easter egg hunt at school Friday. Yes, we were at school because of the snow day. We assumed the hunt would be over in about 5 minutes, but Ms. Gassiot decided the kids needed to find 15 eggs with the same word on them. The hunt lasted forever!!! It was so funny watching the kids pick up every single egg to read them before moving on to another area. It was even funnier listening to all the moms holler out, "See! Who has the word see? Here is with...oh there are lots of withs over here. Mys are everywhere! Did you forget your word? NO, that is not your word, you need to dump those out and find your word. Don't be sad, we will help you! Come? No one is the word come. What is that egg doing out here?" So funny!!

Those cute kiddos had their faces painted to look like a bunny(only in Kinder!!) and had a blast. Another story about Tracen...his letter was J for the week, and his teacher asked the class what they knew that started with J. He hollered out, "Jesus!" So proud of him and his willingness to shout out for Jesus. He has really grown up in many ways this year. He is finally reading well. He really struggled with this for awhile, but I tried not to push him. He qualified for GT(of course he did, his name is Marc Jr.)and has loved going every Friday. His IQ is through the roof, and he was not reading! I knew it would click, and it has been very cool watching it happen. Even Makenna said how he can just read all of a sudden. Makes me miss being a teacher so much!

Thanks Ms. Gassiot for making our year and Easter hunt so amazing!

A cute idea our Children's Minister sent to us:
With some of your leftover Easter eggs, make good news eggs. Write a special treat for your kids on a slip of paper and put it in the egg. Some of mine say, "You can stay outside and play 30 extra minutes tonight!," or "You can pick your favorite treat after school today!" Just anything that they beg to do or ask for often. Then hide an egg every few days in their room for them to find in the morning. Then they get their treat that day. The point is, besides FUN, is to tell them that good news is fun to get, and for them to share that Jesus being alive is the good news we just celebrated on Easter. This news is great to get and to share with others. She said to talk about why people need to hear this good news, etc. Thought it was a fun idea, and our eggs are ready to go for tomorrow morning. I think I am going to rotate days, too, so we won't be doing both kids' activities in the same day. We also share good news, bad news at the table so everyone can talk about their day, which could also be incorporated. Last night's session was done over a screaming for 30 minutes straight nearly 2 year old who was super mad she had to sit in her high chair for dinner. But we still shared it!

Easter 2011

Today we fed 25 people and celebrated Easter with some family and friends. What a fun day of remembering that our Savior is alive.
(A little mess got ahold of my camera and deleted some pictures. Maybe she's a big mess.) :)

Good morning!

Happy Easter!

Loooove trying to take a picture with all of them looking!

What did I miss?

Kindof...

Whoa!

Finally...ish.

What do I do with this thing, anyway?

Posing. First words when I put on her outfit: "I cute. Pretty."

Ready to pose as well. Big sis having none of that.

JoAnne and Frank are Grandma and Grandad's old neighbors. Frank has been battling cancer in his throat and has been declared cancer-free. So happy to see them!

Mamma Vickie and daughter Beth...loved these ladies like my own since I taught Beth in 4th grade nearly 10 years ago. Yes, I am still old.

Michael from Carlsbad, Damilola from Nigeria, and Jon from San Antonio

Table for the littles

Older "kid" table. Arber, Scott's roommate, on the left from Albania. Scott was there, too, I promise, Mom, but his cute picture was deleted by "The Mess."

Vickie, Rick, and Terry

Ready to hunt!

Mailey running away, ignoring all eggs, because that is what her goal is every day:open the door and run outside away from Mom

Makenna with tons of eggs and a too little basket. Yes, also with a fashion change to "match" her American Girl doll

Fighting over eggs spilling out of each others' baskets

Group(ish) picture. Note Tracen's face. FREAKED out when an egg was smashed on his head and took awhile to recover

Tyson and Tiffany going at it with confetti eggs

Some cos corones fun...see, he recovered just fine!

Sending Grandma and Grandad back to Georgetown. Why did they move again??

Mailey wanted Vickie to stand against the wall beside her and pose. Bossy boots.
