Mailey turned 3 two days before swimming lessons, so she could take Aquatots instead of me getting in the water with her in the baby class. I was sooo excited about this fact. The only problem we had was the, "I do it by myself" issue. She would take her turn with the instructor, and as the instructor moved down the line of kids, Mailey would decide she could do the skill by herself, and then just go for it. Then everyone is scrambling to get her while she is sinking, kicking, and smiling under water. See the big lifeguard dude in some of the pics? He got closer and closer to her each time, and then most lessons he would stand by her. He was guarding 3 classes, and was all used up by my adventurous kid. He would lift her up, set her on the step, and say, "Stay on the step" in this way deep voice. Mailey would then turn around to me and holler, "Mom, did ya see me? I do it by myself!!" Did not phase her one bit. I guess barely turning 3 and my desire to not be in the water with her might not have been the best decision. She loooooves the water, though, so next year will be even better. I bet she will have more moments like these, too. That's just who she is, heaven help me.
Here is Makenna in Level 6. She passed this level last year, but none higher are offered, so I was the mean momma making her do it again for more practice.
Tracen got in his Level 2 class with his friends Josue and Rosa. How fun! He did great and passed with the most beautiful butterfly award. Wooohoooo for my timid man. He is also jumping off the board and swimming to the side, which he was always too scared to do. Such a difference in confidence. I am so proud of them all!
