Red River Part 4

Another favorite is the Community Center boat build and races.  The kids get some wood, nail it into their own boat creation, and paint it...with non-washable paint.  Ha we def learned that the hard way.

Mak getting ready to watch.  In each heat they took first, second, and third and placed them into a bucket.  At the end all the firsts raced, seconds, thirds.  Whoever got first place in the final races got the 3 prizes.  Lots of kids didn't get it, so there were tears after winning in the first heat but getting beat in the finals.  Boat races can bring out some interesting parent/kid/grandparent competition!

Tracen and Zach got 4th in their heat, so no racing again but they were still pretty happy.

Abby won a place in her first heat, but not first in the final heat, so no prize.  But fun to cheer her on!

Makenna won 2nd in her heat, then beat all the 2nd placers in the final heat.  Her prize was a cute Red River coffee cup and a way too small RR shirt.  So Mailey won the shirt.  Ha!  The girl who was not a fan of participating and let us allll know about it won.  Hmmmm.

Mailey got to race again, too.  She could care less she didn't win because she would just shout, "I won again!"  So funny!

The river runs right by our condo, and we let the kids get their feet in.  Getting feet in always seemed to end up with someone falling, someone getting hurt, someone crying, and some parent having to rewash their clothes!!  But they had fun. Right?
